Stalls and bake sales on campus
Stalls on campus, including bake sales, require written permission from the Secretary of Court in advance. The University has put together some guidelines on how to obtain permission.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR BAKE SALES ON CAMPUS AND COVID-19:
In light of new advice from Health Protection Scotland regarding the ongoing situation to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the University has confirmed that they will not be taking any stall or bake sale bookings from clubs and societies during semester one and semester two of the 2020/21 academic year.
Stalls on campus, including bake sales, require written permission from the Chief Operating Officer and University Secretary in advance. The University has put together some guidelines on how to obtain permission.
The University appreciates that holding a stall on campus provides your club or society with an opportunity to publicise itself or raise money for charitable causes. Only SRC/GUSA affiliated student societies are allowed to hold an information stall or a baked good stall. All we ask is that you let the Court Office know well in advance so that they can ensure that your stall is not blocking access to entry/exits, does not conflict with other events on campus and, if it is a bake sale, is not in direct competition with the University’s own catering facilities. Please note that only baked good are permitted and no fresh food is allowed for health and safety reasons. Sandwiches and items such as sushi are classed as high risk products and must not be offered under any circumstances.
All stalls require permission from the Chief Operating Officer and we ask that you apply for this at least one week before you want to hold your stall. Last minute requests or any with less than 7 days’ notice will automatically be declined.
Diaries fill up fast during semester time, so the more notice you can give, the better. Each club/society is limited to one stall request per semester. Stalls can be held at the following locations:
- Outside the Library/Fraser Building
- Outside the Wolfson Medical School
Stalls are not allowed outside the Boyd Orr or the St Andrew’s Building.
Requests for a stall on campus should be made by email to Ghillian Campbell – Ghillian.Campbell@glasgow.ac.uk / Lee.McClure@glasgow.ac.uk . In your request you should include details of the:
- Society you represent
- Date and times required
- Location of the stall
- Details of the information/products that will be available (baked goods only please – no high risk products such as sandwiches).
A signed letter from the Chief Operating Officer will be emailed to you if permission is granted. If you do not have a signed letter of permission, Security will ask you to move on. Where baked goods are being sold, you will be required to comply with the University’s Guidelines on food safety, which are attached to the letter of permission.
If an affiliated club/society wishes to use an SRC hot water flask for their bake sale, they must come to the SRC Welcome Point to complete a booking form.
For stalls outside the QMU, please contact the QMU for permission (information@qmunion.org.uk).
Require a table for your stall? Societies should contact the Bedellus Office (bedellus@admin.gla.ac.uk). Do not take tables without permission from the Fraser Building.
For information stalls only the space inside the foyer at the Fraser Building and outside One A The Square is available to use. To book this space, please contact Hospitality Services (hospitality@glasgow.ac.uk).
