Mind Your Mate

The SRC has launched this suicide prevention training programme to help empower all UofG students and staff to support themselves and each other

The Mind Your Mate training programme is a three-hour interactive workshop, covering basic mental health awareness and suicide prevention skills.

The programme forms part of GUSRC’s aim to build a community of Mental Health Champions, reduce stigma surrounding mental health, and cut down barriers that prevent students from accessing the help and support they need.

Topics covered include:

  • The core of suicide prevention
  • Myths and facts around suicide
  • Emotional resilience
  • Active listening skills
  • Looking after your own mental health

Workshops are free and open for all university students and staff to attend.  All successful participants will receive a completion certificate, signed-off by the University’s Chief Operating Officer, acknowledging their status as a university Mental Health Champion.

To find out when our next open sessions are, please keep an eye on GUSRC’s Facebook page.
