European Law Students’ Association University of Glasgow
The European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) University of Glasgow is a Local Group of ELSA UK, which is one of 44 countries which are National Groups of ELSA International. ELSA International is the largest law students’ association in the world with almost 70,000 members and is an international, non-political, non-profit making organisation run for and by students.
ELSA University of Glasgow was founded in September 2018 and subsequently awarded ‘rising star’ of ELSA UK in March 2020, with over 200 members. We are just one of three Local Groups in Scotland and seek to bring Scots law opportunities and awareness of Scottish issues to the wider UK network dominated by common law and English universities.
We run both Academic and Social events, including; Murder Mystery evenings, pub quizzes, regular socials and provide access to exclusive Internships, Diplomatic Exposure, Summer and Winter Law Schools across Europe, Diplomatic Exposure, Essay Competitions and much more.
In doing so, ELSA UofG has had the pleasure to partner with the University of Glasgow School of Law, Shepherd and Wedderburn, Blackadders Solicitors, Latta & Co Solicitors, and JustRight Scotland in the past. The latter three have kindly provided us with work experience as prizes for essay competitions. The School of Law have provided invaluable financial support to allow us to fulfil our constitutional requirements to ELSA UK and to organise events and opportunities to our members throughout the year.
Joining ELSA UofG will give you access to all these wonderful opportunities and more. There is no need to be interested in European Law or to be of a European nationality, ELSA is simply European in its geographical operational scope and open to everyone.
