Register to vote by 20 April or you won’t be able to take part in #ge2015

Less than half of 18-24 year olds voted in the last General Election in 2010 and total turnout was only 65.1%. Big decisions on employment, housing and living costs are being made without you. Politicians target their policies to those that vote. Registering to vote online takes around 5 minutes.

Student voters are a force to be reckoned with and could swing the vote on May 7th! For democracy to succeed those that represent the future of the country must take part. As if you need any other reason to register, here are a few more:

  • It gives you a say on who represents you at all levels of government
  • Elections can be called at short notice, and if you’re not registered you won’t be able to vote
  • Across the world people have died fighting for the right to vote and be part of a democracy
  • It gives you a say on important issues that affect you
  • It can improve your credit rating
