Mind Your Mate
Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention Training

IMPORTANT: Due to ongoing restrictions these workshops will be delivered online, via Zoom, until changes are made to government guidance.
The Mind Your Mate training programme is a two-hour interactive workshop, covering basic mental health awareness and suicide prevention skills.
The programme forms part of GUSRC’s aim to build a community of Mental Health Champions, reduce stigma surrounding mental health, and cut down barriers that prevent students from accessing the help and support they need.
Topics covered include:
- The core of suicide prevention
- Myths and facts around suicide
- Emotional resilience
- Active listening skills
- Looking after your own mental health
Workshops are free and open for all university students and staff to attend. All successful participants will receive a completion certificate, signed-off by the University’s Chief Operating Officer, acknowledging their status as a university Mental Health Champion.
