The UGRacing Team is a group of highly motivated students, coming from a wide variety of disciplines and degrees. The team was founded in 2005 with the focus on designing, constructing and testing a single-seat formula-style racecar to compete in the Formula Student UK competition. Formula Student is the largest student engineering competition in the world requiring university teams to design, build, test and race a small open wheeled vehicle.
The racecar is an excellent platform to test innovative ideas, and allow student engineers to work on a project where their designs have a real impact. UGRacing has been an important stepping stone in the careers of many University of Glasgow students, along with thousands of students worldwide. The team allows students to put the theory they have learnt in the classroom into practice, and develop important connections with industry. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the project, the team now includes students from a wide range of educational and cultural backgrounds, including engineering, business, arts and media.
The highlight for the team each year is seeing their creation roar to life at the Silverstone racetrack, competing against teams from all over the globe. This achievement is only possible with the help of our invaluable sponsors and supporters, who allow the team to push the boundaries and continue to promote excellence.
