The SRC finances and supports 4 award-winning student media outlets. Each media group is editorially independent from the SRC and chooses the direction, development, and content of their product each year.
The four media groups are Glasgow University Guardian, Glasgow University Magazine (GUM), Glasgow University Student Television (GUST) and Subcity Radio. All have won a variety of national awards over the year, including Best Specialist Radio Show at the Student Radio Awards to Best Newspaper and Best Magazine at the Herald Student Media Awards.
Volunteering in student media gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and practical, working knowledge of the responsibilities and considerations involved in working in the media industry. From designing websites to writing editing content to managing PR and marketing teams: whatever the passion, there’s an opportunity to explore and develop it within each group.
Previous volunteers have continued to develop successful careers throughout the world in organisations including the BBC, The Times, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Sky, The Herald, Radio Magnetic, Radio 1, and Tiger Aspect.
