Since the Employment Rights booklet was written in 2005, a few wee things have changed, or are about to change, as follows:
Changes from April 2006
Income Tax Personal Allowance is £5,035
Lower Earnings Limit for entitlement to Statutory Sick Pay is £84
National Insurance earnings threshold is £97
Changes from October 2006
National Minimum Wage rates are:
16-17 year olds £3.30 per hour
18-21 year olds £4.45 per hour
22 + year olds £5.35 per hour
Also it is now unlawful for employers to discriminate against someone on grounds of age.
