Private Accommodation Viewing Service (PAVS)
Staying in Glasgow this summer and have a few hours to spare? Want to help us ensure international students don’t get ripped off by Private Landlords? Why not volunteer for the Private Accommodation Viewing Service?
Looking for a summer volunteering opportunity in the local area? Private Accommodation Viewing Service (PAVS) is an SRC service that runs each year to help prevent international students from being defrauded out of deposits for non-existent properties, or from having to live in dangerous or unpleasant accommodation.
In return for giving up a few hours on a regular basis between late June and early September, we will give you training and preparation in how to check private accommodation to make sure it is safe to live in.
Volunteers are asked to organise property viewings in pairs with a check-list to complete.. You will be making telephone calls and asking questions about a property, so should be fluent in spoken and written English. Also, you will need to have access to Facebook, as viewings are organised via a private “volunteer group” page.
Volunteering with this service will help you develop useful graduate attributes and knowledge you can use for yourself . Additionally, volunteers aged under 26 will be able to claim Saltire Award for their hours via the time log on their volunteering account. Public transport costs can be reimbursed.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions, and apply via https://volunteer.src.gla.ac.uk/
