Private Accommodation Viewing Service (PAVS)

Staying in Glasgow this summer and have a few hours to spare? Want to help us ensure international students don’t get ripped off by Private Landlords? Why not volunteer for the Private Accommodation Viewing Service?

The SRC is pleased to announce a new initiative for Summer 2015 designed to help international students coming to study at the University of Glasgow. We are sure many of you will have experienced dodgy landlords and substandard private accommodation. Organised by the Advice Centre team and the Student Volunteer Support Service coordinator, the Private Accommodation Viewing Service (PAVS) will launch this summer and will offer both a valuable service for international students and a new volunteering opportunity for students already living here.

If you are going to be staying in Glasgow over the summer months and are keen to help out we’d love to hear from you. No specialist housing knowledge is required as you will be trained in key areas, matched up in pairs and sent to view properties equipped with a pro forma checklist to fill in.

In exchange for a few hours over the summer months, you will perform a valuable service for you peers as well as developing personal and graduate attributes that will be of use in your own lives.
