UGRacing is the University of Glasgow’s Formula Student team, designing, building and racing a single-seat formula-style racecar each year. The team was founded in 2005 and comprises a group of highly motivated students, coming from a wide variety of disciplines and degrees.

The racecar is an excellent platform to test innovative ideas, and allow student engineers to work on a project where their designs have a real impact. UGRacing has been an important stepping stone in the careers of many University of Glasgow students, along with thousands of students worldwide. Alumni have gone on to work at many prestigious engineering companies including Mercedes, Jaguar Land Rover and Toro Rosso. The team allows students to put the theory they have learnt in the classroom into practice, and develop important connections with industry. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the project, the team includes students from a wide range of educational and cultural backgrounds, including engineering, business, arts and media.
The highlight for the team each year is seeing their creation roar to life at the Silverstone racetrack, competing against teams from all over the globe. The team is currently ranked 1st in Scotland, 6th in the UK and 11th worldwide. This achievement is only possible with the help of our invaluable sponsors and supporters, who allow the team to push the boundaries and continue to promote excellence.
