Student Dance Company

GSDC is a fun and relaxed dance company created by, and for, the students of the University of Glasgow.

GSDC is the largest student dance company at Glasgow University and is completely student run. At the beginning of each year old and new members audition pieces of choreography that they want to teach. Those who are successful will take a class every week teaching their vision to a group of students ranging from advanced dancers to complete beginners. There are 23 classes each week with a massive range of styles like belly dance, bollywood, contemporary and hip hop. In February we take all our dances to the Mitchell theatre where we hold our annual show, with three performances over two days. As well as dancing, GSDC has a massic focus on socials. From pubcrawls to theatre trips we try and provide a massive variety of social activities for our members. We also have a competition team that represents the talent we have at GSDC at two competitions, one in Scotland one in England. The English competition allows for a GSDC weekend away and we welcome supporters of the team to come and spread the GSDC cheer down south. Throughout the year we do all sorts of fundraising activities to help fund the competition team, including bake sales and pub quizzes.
