Students for Kids International Projects – SKIP – is a student run charity at the University of Glasgow
Students for Kids International Projects – SKIP – is a national student-led international development charity with a branch here at the University of Glasgow.
Every summer, SKIP Glasgow takes on new student volunteers, training them on campus throughout the year with the skills to both take part in and develop sustainable healthcare and social education programmes. We work in cooperation with our partner organisation in rural Malawi, Likhubula Youth Organisation (LIYO), who are an important link to multiple community groups who we are also in cooperation with.
SKIP Glasgow take an entirely evidence-based, community-led approach to international development, continuing programmes only when supported by data and when received positively by those that we work with. We currently run education sessions and forums with youth groups and schools, and are trialling Project Mwezi, a method for producing low-cost, reusable sanitary pads from widely-available materials. We are however committed to developing innovative programmes to address the problems that the community raises with us.
