Model United Nations (GlasMUN)

University of Glasgow Model United Nations is an interactive society which holds debates on the same premises as the United Nations. With this in mind, instead of representing your own opinions and views, you get to represent opinions of a country and debate on their behalf as their ambassador.

The University of Glasgow Model United Nations is a society aimed towards all who are interested in international-style debate. Bringing the UN experience to students, the society meets every week and debates current world issues in a strict UN format. Through role-play and discussion as world nations, delegates try to build a Resolution acceptable to all in order to rectify and amend certain situations. Along with the weekly meetings, GlaMUN sends delegates to represent Glasgow University at international conferences across the world. From WorldMUN at The Hague in March 2009, to London International MUN in March 2010, the delegates play a key role in more intense and structured debate with students from around the world. There is also, of course, the social aspect, and boundless fun to be had.
