Giving What We Can: Glasgow

Giving What We Can is an international society aimed at tackling extreme poverty.

The society is built around the idea that, firstly, giving away a significant portion of one’s income to worthy causes is easier than most people think, and secondly, giving to the most cost-effective charities massively increases the power of one’s donations.
For a person earning £60,000 per year, donating 10% to effective charities would mean saving 2 lives every year, or leading to 40,000 fewer missed days of school due to illness. These incredible sounding feats are within most people’s reach.

Our society’s objective is to raise awareness about these ideas, to encourage people to give more and regularly, as well as fundraising for charities that prove to have an extraordinary impact at a small cost.
