Cecilian Society

The University of Glasgow’s only dedicated musical theatre society, open to all.

The Cecilian Society has been producing successful shows for over 60 years. We usually work on two productions each year: our weekend show (cast and rehearsed in a single weekend after Freshers’ Week) is a great introduction to the Society, and our main show (a larger-scale production towards the end of February) plays to an audience of 2000 people over the course of a week.

We have an open chorus so you only ever need to audition for principal roles. Our most recent productions have included Jekyll & Hyde, Annie, Guys and Dolls, and Little Shop of Horrors. If you don’t fancy being on stage we need lots of help behind the scenes too! We are also a fun-loving society and hold numerous social events whenever we’re not rehearsing, including parties, ceilidhs, trips to shows, and our famous themed pub crawl.
