Catholic Association

GUCA is one of GU’s top student societies, and we are among the biggest and best Catholic Associations in the UK

There are plenty of ways to be involved with your Faith at Glasgow University. GUCA is one of GU’s top student societies, and we are among the biggest and best Catholic Associations in the UK.

Much of our activity centres around our four main groups; the Catholic Society meetings for undergraduates, our Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP) group, our Legion of Mary Praesidium, and the St Teresa de Avila prayer group for female students.

In addition to this, we also have much, much more going on, including high-profile social events throughout the year. Feel free to get involved- in any capacity that you wish- and you’ll be made to feel welcome. Embracing a strong and positive community of other young Catholics when you’re a student is something that can give you a solid foundation for life.

So get in touch, either through Facebook or Twitter (@GUCatholic), or popping in and speaking to someone personally. GUCA is based at the Catholic Chaplaincy, right in the middle of campus at Turnbull Hall, 15 Southpark Terrace (about half way between the uni library and Stevenson Building).

Our chaplain is Fr Ross Campbell, ordained for the Archdiocese of Glasgow in June 2010 and appointed as University Catholic Chaplain in March 2014.

Mass is celebrated Monday-Friday at 1.05pm, and on Sundays at 9am, 11.30am, and 6.15pm. Confessions are heard from 12.45pm-1.30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 12.45pm-1pm on Fridays, and 11am on Sundays.
