English for Doctors
The EDS (English for Doctor scheme) aims to increase participants’ confidence in conversational English. These participants are refugee and asylum seeker medical professionals and need to attain a high level of English to practice medicine in the UK. Glasgow Uni students and doctors are paired up and meet on a weekly basis.
Although the doctors are aiming to register to practice medicine in the UK, conversation need not be medically based: volunteers need only be enthusiastic conversational partners.
