Student Volunteer Support Service
Do you ever feel like you are stuck in the “west end bubble"? Are you tired of reading negative press stories about students, and think that you could use your time at Glasgow to do something positive?
Well, you can.
The SRC’s Student Volunteer Support Service (formerly Student Community Action) is here to help give students the chance to undertake a wide range of volunteering opportunities both on and off campus, and to provide a valuable link and input into the local community.
How?
It’s easy. Just check out the projects run by the SRC on this page and get in contact with the SVSS Development Officer on the first floor of the John McIntyre Building.
Support – What can we do to help?
Lots.
- Accreditation: The SRC is signed up to the Scottish Exec’s Millennium Volunteer (MV) awards, so not only will you be gaining some valuable skills, you’ll also have something to show for it.
- Disclosure: If you’re working with children or vulnerable adults, you’ll have to complete a Disclosure Check – but fear not, all you have to do is fill in the form. We’ll pay for it, post it – the lot.
- Training: We’re on-hand to provide you with all the training and support you’ll need to succeed.
- Travel Expenses: We’ll pay ‘em.
Interested? Then call the SRC on 0141 339 8541 or e-mail volunteer@src.gla.ac.uk.
