You’re probably thinking that you’ll have to sift through jumble in a charity shop, help at a coffee morning, that sort of thing, right? Well, and brace yourself, there’s A LOT more on offer than that, and the SRC is here to help.

Get more than a degree

Student volunteering covers a large range of activities and projects; there truly is something out there for everyone. So check out the links in the Student Volunteer Support Service to find something to suit you.

Why get involved?

Good question. Well, just have a think about why you came to University in the first place. Go on…

I’m sure there’s more to it than that…

That’s better. And volunteering with the SRC can help you to do all of these and allow you to make a difference in your local community, whilst at the same time building your employability skills. More and more employers are looking for evidence of graduates who have been involved in student life beyond their academic study, and this great way to gain that experience. The Scottish Executive/Goverment also places a strong emphasis on the importance of Volunteering, and their Strategy can be found here.

You’ll also no longer need to feel stuck in the “West End Bubble”.
