Campus Recycling Petition

This petition, which was launched on the 9th November 2006. It calls for ‘a network of visible and accessible recycling points on campus’ and for the University to commit to providing and encouraging use of these facilities for its students.

To help us get a strong voice for change, you can get a copy of the petition by contacting SRC’s VP for Student Support Struan Campbell at vp-support@src.gla.ac.uk.

We’ve put together a list of recycling points around campus to make it easier for you to find one. Have a look! If you know of any points (private or public) that we haven’t listed, please email the details to us at the address below – thank you.

Campaign for a Climate Change Bill

On 2nd October 2006, the Group agreed to lobby Scottish MPs to ask them to put pressure on the Government to introduce a Climate Change Bill in the Queen’s Speech in November, to make it compulsory for the Government to reduce the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions by 3% a year. Read the email we sent and the MPs’ replies here (pdf), including replies from Charles Kennedy and Alex Salmond.

Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Act

On 9 March 2007, the SRC sent an email to all Scottish MPs asking them to support a bill on climate change going through Parliament. We followed this up with a further email on 25 April. The bill has now become law. To read the letter and the responses we received, click here (pdf).
