Glasgow University Movember 2011
With Movember drawn to a close for another year, we’d like to thank everyone for their contributions.
This year, the Glasgow University network registered 74 participants who collectively raised £2,451 and everyone involved, the Mo Bros who furnished their top lips for thirty days, the Mo Sisters who showed solidarity in any way and anyone who chipped in to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity deserves a huge amount of gratitude and to be proud of being part of the University’s effort. Thank you.
And now on to the interesting part; the cross-campus competition! With the dust settled the winners are...
GUSA!
Glasgow University Sports Association have pipped the QMU to the post with an impressive total of £490, thanks in large part to the efforts of Glasgow University Hares & Hounds who racked up £357. Full standings below:
1. GUSA* – £490
2. Queen Margaret Union – £461
3. GUSRC – £379
4. Glasgow University Union – £334
*Includes Hares & Hounds.
Now the wiley amongst you will have noticed that the total of the above figures does not equate to the network’s total and that because individuals can join the network without joining a team. It’s therefore noting the individuals who have made a significant contribution to the cause.
The first being Nicola Carty, the mo sister who put the bros to shame by wearing a fakie for a month and raising an incredible £501. Following her in second and third were Jack McCorry and Stuart McNeill in second and third, raising £214 and £207 respectively.
Glasgow University have now been a part of Movember for three years, raising over £5,000 for mens’ health charities. Donations can still be made to your team or the network by visiting the University network page.
What does 2012 hold in store? More mos, hopefully.
