Info for Freshers

Freshers’ Passes
The week-long party is available only to students with Freshers’ Passes which cost just £35: that’s essentially a quarter of the price of most festivals which only last for two days, not seven!
Remember, in order to attend ALL of the activities provided by the student bodies you must sign up for a Freshers’ Pass.
To sign up for a pass, fill in the Freshers’ Pass application form found in the welcome pack you’re sent. Return it to the address shown with a cheque or postal order made payable to GUSRC. We’ll then send you an acknowledgement card which you then exchange on the first day of the week for your pass.
For more information go to http://www.glasgow.ac.uk/freshersweek.
For details concerning the Freshers’ Pass and related activities please contact the SRC on +0 (44) 141 339 8541 or enquiries@src.gla.ac.uk.
Freshers’ fair
The biggest and best introduction to all the student bodies, Clubs and Societies, University services and businesses you’ll be using for the next four years, the Freshers’ Fair runs for two days, from Tuesday, 15 to Wednesday, 16 September.
The Bute Hall [Map A13] will be full of interesting people and organisations who will make your time at University that bit more exciting. You’ll pick up some great tips and information, not to mention a variety of freebies including sweets, pens and even popcorn makers! For more information, please see the timetable of events.
Freshers’ helpers
As current students of the University who have been hand-picked for their enthusiasm and friendliness, Freshers’ Helpers are recruited for one purpose: to enable you to have the best time possible during Freshers’ Week. They’ll be able to answer any questions you may have about the city and the University, help you to move into your halls of residence, and generally be a friendly face when you need it. Helpers representing every student body will be wearing brightly-coloured t-shirts to help you identify them on campus throughout the week.
SRC campus to halls minibuses and night buses
To help you get settled in, and find your way around, the SRC will be running Minibuses from Campus to Halls during the morning and evening of Freshers’ Week. Times and routes will vary from the usual timetables, so check out http://www.glasgowstudent.net and your Freshers’ Week information for times. To ease your travel home after nights out at the Unions during Freshers’ Week there will also be a night bus service, stewarded by the friendly Freshers’ Helpers, running from the Main Gate from 2300 until close – an easy and safe way to get home during your first week on campus.
