One Voice – Belfast Trip

Event date: 5 March 2010. Back to diary.

Fact-finding trip to Belfast

Leaving Glasgow: Friday 5th March (evening) – Returning: Sunday 7th March

Every conflict is unique – But what can we learn from the example of Belfast, a city in transition between war and peace?

OneVoice Glasgow will be travelling to Belfast to meet some of those affected by the Troubles in Northern Ireland, and to see the city for ourselves. We’ll be getting a minibus to take us around, and here’s some of what we’re planning:

-Tour of the peace lines that seperate Protestant and Catholic areas
-Meetings with NGOs working on reconciliation for both sides
-Visits to other community projects
-Meetings with some very high-profile politicians (names to be confirmed!)
-MORE TO BE ADDED AS THEY’RE CONFIRMED!

We may also be joined in Belfast by OneVoice colleagues from Israel and Palestine

DETAILS:

There are around 12 places available. Cost, including flights, transport, hostel accommodation and some food, will be £120 – however, there will be a LIMITED number of subsidised places available.

Everyone is welcome – particularly new members! If you are interested, please email OneVoiceGlasgow@gmail.com as soon as possible, so that we can allocate you a space!

WE NEED TO BOOK FLIGHTS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO PLEASE CONFIRM YOUR SPACE BY WED 3rd FEBRUARY!
