October – Finance
For the month dedicated to student finance, we thought we would pay special attention to international students. As the ones who have to juggle a different currency, lots of bills, banks, etc. in a new environment, they are the ones for whom student finance can perhaps be especially tricky.
However, the information that you will find clicking on the links below, will be useful not only to international students, but to anyone who is dealing with a bank or a mobile phone company in particular.
Recurrent problems include extremely long waiting times for opening bank accounts, being offered terrible mobile phone deals, or being refused the right to return the phone if you’re not happy.
To find out what your rights are in terms of mobile phone contracts, click here. If instead you are having problems with a bank, please read here.
If you have read the sections above, and still have doubts or queries, just pop into the Advice Centre (ground floor of the John McIntyre Building) and speak to one of the Advice team members.
Special Event – Safety
In the build up to the SRC Safety month in November, the SRC is happy to announce the launch of the ‘Your Health Matters’ campaign run by the LGBT association. The launch will take place at the QMU at 7:30pm on Wed 17 Oct.
