BETH KAHN - VP (LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT)

I want to make sure that students get the most out of their experiences at university while ensuring that the universities effect on the world is a positive one. It is important to ensure that students are provided with the skills and environment to fulfil their academic potential.

I will:

Protect and support the development of intellectual activity be it within a degree program or extra-curricular.

Promote collaboration with other Scottish Universities on issues of joint interest through CHESS Coalition of Higher Education Students in Scotland

Consider the effects of university and library policy on all students: including those who study; part time, at postgraduate level, alongside work and at the Crichton campus.

Create a student committee to assess the effects of work done at the university on the wider community. This would be a forum where students could raise ethical grievances concerning university policy and make recommendations for better practice.

I will not:

Neglect my responsibility to provide students with the best possible representation at university level.

Turn a blind eye to national and local issues that will affect future generations of Glasgow University students.

Ignore the contributions and opinions of those with whom I disagree.

I have previously been involved in the council as a student rep and an arts faculty ordinary member, before becoming dedicated to my honours studies in Philosophy. While a member of the SRC I worked to promote a more accessible and inclusive council and campaigned to oppose the raising of fees for English medical students studying in Scotland.

I have a good relationship with both student unions; I was a member of the QM board in first year and debate at the GUU.

I am a very determined person
If you do vote for me- it will make a difference.
