I am responsible for all SRC publicity and therefore in charge of drafting and implementing the organisation’s communication strategy and advertising for specific campaigns and events. This entails a number of broad tasks such as looking after the preparation and distribution of SRC’s publications like the Guide and the Diary, but also dealing with the press and more in general communicate to students what the SRC is up to. I also offer my expertise to other sabbatical and non-sabbatical officers in publicising events and gatherings that they are organising.
Furthermore, a big part of my job is to support student media while assuring their editorial independence, both from the SRC and the University, is maintained. I am regularly in touch with media heads and help them achieving further success.
Finally, I organise Media Week. This is a series of conferences, talks and workshops for media-professionals-to-be and everyone who wants to discover what’s really behind the scenes of newspapers, TV, radio and internet. Media Week 2008 was held between Feb 4-8.
On a more personal note, I am Italian and hold a degree in International and Diplomatic Relations from the University of Trieste (Italy) and an MSc in Political Communication from Glasgow. In my spare time I still write as a freelance journalist and play the violin. Also, I love travelling and learning new languages.
If you have any questions about student media, media week or anything else, or if you wish to get involved with the SRC publicity team, don’t hesitate to get in touch or pop in to see me in the John McIntyre building.
