Ana Cohen | Candidate standing in Autumn Elections 2010
Hi. My name is Ana and I did my undergraduate degree in Genetics, here at the University of Glasgow. During that time, I was constantly involved with the SRC, both by being a freshers’ helper and by sitting on Council for 2 years as Science Convenor.
Now that I’ve started my masters course, I have realized that postgraduate students seem to have less support when arriving to university than undergraduates do. Indeed, with only 5,300 PG students compared to 16,500 UG students, most events are designed to attract the majorities. My goal is to change this.
Furthermore, with the closure of the Hetherington Research Club, there is no longer a space dedicated for postgraduate students to socialize. I wish to investigate further into this issue and hopefully set up a new way for PG students to get together and meet people from different courses.
Let me represent you, vote Ana!
The Heckling Meeting, at which the candidates each make a small speech followed by open questions from the floor, is happening the night before voting, on Tuesday the 19th October. It starts at 1730 in the Williams Room (which is upstairs in the John MacIntyre Building).
Voting takes place on Wednesday October 20th. You can vote using your GUID (the login details you use for websurf and the library) from ANY online computer, no matter where you are in the world. Voting will be open 0900 – 1700, with the results annouced at 1800, also in the Williams Room.
